IN ANIMO TUO - IN YOUR MIND

My first art exhibition, where I made 20 unique pieces that are an homage to our unique mind.

Appealing to mental health, the main idea behind is to explore, through the art, the subconscious of all of us, representing our thoughts, limits and addictions.

Hope you enjoy it!
the talkative glass
this one is for the state of being drunk and telling the truths you so deeply try not to tell when sober. it can be a friends secret or your true opinion on some topic, doesn’t really matter.
the glass, with the mouth, represents the people who won’t shut up when drunk 🍷(myself included)
the square mind
as said in the title, the square mind represents exactly the state of not being able to agree or to understand different opinions from the ones we have. we often think we’re too open minded but cannot understand what someone is going through truly.
caesar
caesar augustus, also known as octavian, was officially the first roman emperor who reigned from 27 BC until his death in AD 14.
caesar, as of being a leader in that particular times, mostly acted with blood, greed and leadership. as of so, this painting represents this states of the human being, when we so often let feelings like this rule over us.
as of living in rome for 6 months, this painting is, also, a tribute to past times in the italian city.
jogo do galo
this one, particularly, is one of my last paintings. as said in the title - “jogo do galo” - represents the games we play with our emotion and our feelings. the red one, represents the rage feelings, the blue ones the nice ones and the brown represent the neutral feelings.
foreign thoughts
this painting talks about the thoughts who come to our minds and we didn’t expect them to come. they can be good ones or bad ones, it doesn’t matter. it represents the change of moods and the thoughts we have that we think: why am i thinking this, actually?
beneath
“beneath” talks about the deep of the sea.
as you can see in the painting, we have elements such as the began and the “dark” which represents the deepness.
when sea divers are in the deep of the sea, they don’t have enough oxygen to breath and to be able to explore the ocean.
isn’t it the same that happens to us when we are deeply lost in our own minds?
ps: the X marks the spot 😉
sobre ser grande
this piece comes from a picture taken of a friend having fun in a night out.
with the pessoas’ quote “para ser grande, sê inteiro”, i homage nights out and friends having fun and being they truest selfs.
they are the ones who can make you “ser grande”.
THE GOOD CHAOS!
one of my favorite pieces, this one is happiness at its purest. the good emotions, the excitement, the joy, the laughing, the memories, the cringeness that makes you laugh out loud.
the rest of the elements i leave for interpretation!
dreams, fairytales and fantasies
who doesn’t like to dream sometimes?
it doesn’t matter if you’re awake or not, having fantasies about what you want is what gives you motivation for future times.
as of being a mostly dreaming person since a young age, this one is kind of a self portrait.
dreams, fairytales, fantasies… aren’t they all the same?
the patterns of time
“the patterns of time” explores the colors and patterns that comes in every time of our lives. sometimes it can be darker and full of risks but afterwards comes the waves of the good vibrations.
shadows
depending on the light and the proximity, shadows can be bigger or smaller.
this one painting, i leave for debate 😘
a rapariga corada
emotions come to ourselves when meeting someone new.
this one tells the story of a girl who meets someone who makes her blush her emotions out. the orange represents the interest, yellow the expectation but the blue and purple tones are synonyms of doubt and insecurity 👀
the matriarch
this one is a homage to my late grandmother, dada.
she was the matriarch of my mother sides family and the one who inspired us to explore our art side. she was a stylist and fashion designer and she lived right left the place we are now.
she was the true “matriarch”.
a colorful revenge
this painting talks about the revenge thoughts the human being has. sometimes it can be full of dark thoughts but, on the other hand, in can also transmit self empowerment types of revenge, such as trying to be better people and competing with ourselves. indeed, a colorful revenge.
connections meet the senses
as the title says, this painting is about the connections we make with our own senses. sometimes they’re right but other times they might be wrong.
for example, we might not eat something just because it doesn’t look good but, on the other hand, it may just be delicious.
the mother and the son
this particularly was one of the first paintings i ever did. it was made with my mother, a painter herself, which made the orange and red patterns firstly; the blue, black and white parts where made by myself.
as for this matter, this one represents the relation between a mother/father figure and the son(s). sometimes, they might disagree in some aspects or different opinions, choosing other things (such as me and my mother did with the patterns and colors); however we can balance and make something beautiful out of it, perfectly balanced.
tranquillité
“tranquillité” talks about peace and calm. the figure which appears in the painting is a synonym of equilibrium; on the other hand, the square pattern represents a final. it’s the peace itself in a painting and, also, a tribute to ukraine.
quarantine diaries
“quarantine diaries” is a homage to the pandemic times. when we were at home, working from zoom and trying to find something productive to do.
i didn’t like that particular times (i think nobody really did) however it was the moment where i started doing my art pieces and finding my truest hobby.
conclusion: in the “bad” times, we tend to find what really keeps us more alive.
moooooooooooons
this one talks about the fases of the moon and the fases we have in our lives. in the title, the number of O’s are the number of moons which are present in the painting.
“the mind pilot” is a representation of the control we have over our feelings and emotions, needing to decide which way to go when making a decision. the pilot represents our choices and responsibilities, such as a pilot when piloting an airplane.
